Description
In the early years of Caithness Glass, clear glass weights with bubbles and swirls, engraved on the front window, made up a significant proportion of their paperweight output. This is the “Seal”, a fleck of blue can be seen in the otherwise clear swirly glass, and the front window is copperwheel engraved with a playful seal. Not only is this an early Caithness weight, it was manufactured in a small edition of only 100, and as part of this series of early engraved weights, it is now quite sought after. It is in excellent condition and is signed on the edge of the base by the maker, Christine Beaton. measures 84mm or 3 1/4 ins diameter. ref: 03724
